McCarthy Sea's the Sun

Italy's Football Association has today issued a statement regarding the recent behaviour of Manager Ian McCarthy. McCarthy was spotted in Portugal in recent weeks visiting late bars and casinos while Italy’s 24 player championship squad were at a training camp in Southern Italy.

The statement reads:
"The Italian FA and Mr. McCarthy have a very strong bond and our relationship has not been stronger. We are extremely excited to have McCarthy manage the national side in the European Championships and start with a predicted win over Netherlands in Berne on Monday. Mr. McCarthy was granted personal leave due to stress and pressure, and was given time to relax and recuperate at the resort in the Algarve."

Mr. McCarthy was relieved of his duties as Championship Chairman recently. His 4 year tenor was blighted by accusations of draw-fixing and brown envelopes. Mr. McCarthy has the same legal team as Bertie Ahern and was also seen in Lisbon last Friday at a "YES TO LISBON" rally alongside Mr. Ahern.

Italy are strong favourites to top the group along with Italy which will see the Netherlands crash at the first hurdle.
